Australia – From 5 to 11 August 2024, Pilbara Traffic Management (PTM) proudly participated in National Rail Safety Week, an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of rail safety. This week-long initiative, organised by the TrackSAFE Foundation, brings together rail operators, government bodies and the public to highlight safety’s crucial role in the rail industry.
During Rail Safety Week, PTM took an active role in promoting key safety messages, both within the company and across the communities we serve. The campaign emphasised the need for vigilance at rail crossings, the dangers of distractions near tracks and the importance of respecting railway signals and barriers. PTM’s commitment to rail safety is deeply ingrained in our operations, and this week provided an opportunity to reinforce these messages to a broader audience.
‘Rail safety is a collective responsibility, and events like National Rail Safety Week help ensure that everyone – whether they’re working on the tracks, driving near them or simply walking by – understands the importance of staying alert and safe,’ said a PTM representative. ‘At PTM, safety is our top priority, and we are proud to support initiatives that align with our commitment to protecting our employees, clients and the public.’
Throughout the week, PTM shared safety tips and educational content on social media and within the company, encouraging employees and the public to take proactive steps to stay safe around railways. We also highlighted the hard work of our rail safeworking teams, who play a critical role in maintaining safety on the tracks every day.
We remain committed to promoting rail safety year-round and look forward to participating in future Rail Safety Week events to continue spreading this vital message.
