We maintain a recruitment pool for key roles, especially traffic controllers and rail safeworkers. Due to the extensive induction and training required by Tier 1 clients, the onboarding process can take time, but once fully inducted, our traffic controllers work on significant projects with some of the highest wages in the field.

What qualifications do I need to become a Traffic Controller (TC)?

To qualify as a Traffic Controller with PTM, you need the following:

  • White Card
  • Full C Class Driver’s Licence
  • WA Traffic Controller (TC) Ticket
  • Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) Ticket
  • Candidates with relevant experience or those local to the Pilbara will be highly regarded.
What are the work swings like?

Our work is typically based on 2:1 swings (two weeks on, one week off), but this can vary depending on the job and client requirements. Since the work is casual, we strive to maintain consistent swings, but it’s ultimately job-dependent. For local candidates, work patterns can often be tailored to meet individual preferences, depending on the project’s needs.

How long until I can fly up for work?

The timing for when you can start work will depend on the specific job. Our work is casual, so assignments can vary.

Does PTM offer DIDO (Drive-In Drive-Out) or city work?

Yes, PTM offers both DIDO and city work options, depending on the job requirements and locations.

What is the career progression like in PTM?

At PTM, there are clear pathways for career progression. Starting as a Traffic Controller, you can advance to roles such as Advanced Worksite Traffic Manager (AWTM) or Track Protection Officer (TPO), depending on your experience, qualifications and performance.
